November 2024- The Dialogues on Development Management (DoDM) conference, hosted by the Indian School of Development Management (ISDM) was held on November 21, 2024, in New Delhi. The event served as a platform for thought leaders and changemakers to discuss strategies for building a resilient and impactful social sector.
Rekha Koita, along with Amit Chandra and Mirik Gogri, were speakers at the plenary, titled, "Philanthropy as a Force for Social Change: Big Bets for the Future". It explored opportunities and challenges in using Big Bets in philanthropy to address important societal challenges and drive sustainable, scalable impact. This included the roles of various stakeholders such as philanthropists, NGOs and government, along with the role of digital technologies in inflecting the pace of societal change in India.
November 2024- The Research Society for the Study of Diabetes in India (RSSDI), India's largest Diabetes Association, entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers (NABH) to enhance diabetes care quality across India. This collaboration aims to develop accreditation standards tailored for diabetes clinics, integrating RSSDI's clinical guidelines with NABH's accreditation expertise. NABH and RSSDI will also define digital standards for Diabetes clinics. The partnership seeks to standardize diabetes management practices, promote digital solutions, and support clinics in delivering high-quality, evidence-based care nationwide.
October 2024 - India Development Review (IDR) has published an insightful article on how Madhi Foundation is employing technology to drive educational reform in Tamil Nadu’s public school system. The article explores how Madhi Foundation has integrated tech tools to improve foundational learning outcomes, enhance teacher training, and enable data-driven decision-making in collaboration with the state government.
Through tools like the Palli Paarvai, Ennum Ezhuthum, and Payarchi Paarvai apps, Madhi has enabled data-driven decision-making in the classroom, streamlined assessments, and improved teacher training. These tech platforms now support 65,000 teachers and impact over 1.5 million children, demonstrating the critical role of technology in driving systemic change.
September 2024- The National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers (NABH), celebrated a major milestone in India’s healthcare sector: the first 100 hospitals across the country were awarded the NABH Digital Health Standards Accreditation. The standards help hospitals define their digital health roadmap, and empower and encourage hospitals leverage digital health for enhanced patient care, and drive ABDM adoption.

September 2024- NABH released the 1st Edition of NABH HIS-EMR Standards on the 17th of September 2024. These standards were launched at the National Patient Safety Conference in New Delhi, and enable HIS/ EMR vendors to align their products with NABH Core Standards for Hospitals and obtain NABH certifications for their products. The NABH HIS-EMR Standards will play a key role accelerating digital health adoption in India. The development of these standards has been supported by Koita Foundation.

August 2024- In a significant step towards driving Digital Health education across India, a MoU was signed between the National Health Authority (NHA) and Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS) in the presence of Union Health Minister, Shri J. P. Nadda on 13th August 2024. As part of the collaboration, MUHS will offer its Digital Health Foundation Course (DHFC), developed with Koita Foundation to NHA. The DHFC is a pivotal step in readying healthcare professionals for digital transformation and ABDM adoption. The DHFC curriculum has been curated by leading doctors and subject matter experts across India.

July 2024- NABH released the draft 1st Edition of NABH certification Standards for HIS and EMR Systems on the 23rd of July! Over 325 participants from HIS/EMR companies and hospitals joined the online industry consultation to announce the release of the standards! Koita Foundation played a pivotal role in the drafting of these standards. With the release of these standards, NABH has acquired the unique distinction of having clinical standards for hospitals, digital health standards for hospitals, and standards for HIS/EMR products - fully aligned and consistent with each other! July 2024- India Development Review (IDR) has published an insightful article on the role of technology in the social sector, featuring Foundation for Mother and Child Health India (FMCH). The article highlights how tech adoption can significantly enhance the efforts of frontline workers and improve operational efficiency in maternal health and malnutrition programs.
Koita Foundation has supported FMCH on their tech journey, enabling field officers to collect data, provide health/nutrition counseling, and conduct regular follow-ups. Today, technology is a critical enabler in executing these functions.

March 2024 - Koita Foundation, in collaboration with PWC and NATHEALTH, is rolling out the Digital Health Master Class (DHMC) for India's small and mid-sized hospitals. Aimed at promoting the adoption of Hospital Management Information Systems (HMIS) and Electronic Medical Records (EMR), DHMC offers a practical, 4-5 hour in-person workshop. It empowers hospital leaders with insights into operational efficiency, clinical care improvement, and the strategic planning necessary for budget-friendly technology integration. This initiative is a step towards accelerating digital health adoption across India's healthcare landscape, fostering growth and innovation in the sector.
March 2024- Axis Bank has contributed Rs. 100 crores towards enhancing research, innovation, and digital health adoption in oncology. The 5-years partnership envisions to revolutionize cancer care in India. This partnership will work towards enhancing access to cancer care, fund research programs, and build digital capabilities in oncology.

February 2024 - It was an honor to have the National Cancer Grid-Koita Centre for Digital Oncology (NCG-KCDO) office at Tata Memorial Hospital (TMH), Mumbai inaugurated by Smt. Deepti Gaur Mukerjee, CEO, of National Health Authority (NHA) along with Shri Vikram Pagaria, Director - NHA in the presence of Dr. C S Pramesh, Director, TMH and Convenor NCG, Dr. Manju Sengar, HOD Medical Oncology, TMH and NCG core team member, Dr. Nikesh R. Shah, CEO, NCG-KCDO, Mr. Rizwan Koita, Director, Koita Foundation and Surabhi Goel, COO, Koita Foundation.
NCG-KCDO is actively driving the adoption of ABDM-compliant Electronic Medical Records (EMR) across its national network of NCG hospitals. NCG-KCDO has also created an interoperability taskforce with industry experts for disease-specific clinical data portability, leveraging the existing ABDM framework.
February 2024- Koita Foundation supported the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS) in launching India's first Digital Health Foundation Course (DHFC), benefiting 40,000+ medical students across 450 medical colleges in Maharashtra. The DHFC curriculum and the Digital Health Lab (DHL) equip healthcare professionals with core Digital Health skills. DHFC is open-source and can be used by other states and national organisations.

January 2024 - Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) and Koita Foundation signed an MoU to mark commitment towards advancing Digital Health initiatives in India. The collaboration aims to champion Digital Health education across the nation. November 2023- Four PhD scholars of Koita Centre for Digital Health (KCDH) Ambuj K Upadhyay, Keerthana Vinod Kumar, Shayantan Banerjee, and Surja Racha were honored with the prestigious Prime Minister Research Fellowship (PMRF) in recognition of their outstanding dedication to groundbreaking research in the dynamic field of digital health at KCDH. The Prime Minister's Research Fellows (PMRF) Scheme has a very rigorous selection process, and the fellowship is designed for improving the quality of research in various higher educational institutions in the country.
November 2023- The 3rd Indian Cancer Congress (ICC) was organized in Mumbai from 2nd to 5th November, 2023. Dr Nikesh Shah, CEO- Koita Centre for Digital Oncology (KCDO), part of the National Cancer Grid (NCG), moderated the session titled “Providing Clinical Decision Support: Unleashing the power of healthcare data”. KCDO also organized a showcase of the six NCG empaneled Oncology EMRs at ICC which was well received by the participants. In addition, Professor Kshitij Jadhav and Professor Amit Sethi, representing Koita Centre for Digital Health (KCDH) at IIT Bombay, presented their work on Medical Data Efficient Machine Learning and Enabling Precision Oncology using Digital Pathology, respectively.

September 2023- Koita Foundation is delighted to share that National Accreditation Board of Hospitals & Healthcare (NABH) released the NABH 1st Digital health Standards for Hospitals in India on 17th Sep 2023 in New Delhi in the presence of an august audience – Mr Jaxay Shah - Chairman of QCI, Dr. R. P. Singh – Secretary General QCI, Dr. Mahesh Verma – Chairman NABH, Dr Atul Kochar- CEO NABH, senior healthcare professionals and government officials. The release of this standards at the NABH Patient Safety Conference 2023 was apt as the standards will positively impact the healthcare and patient safety in a significant way. The standards have been aligned with the NABH Healthcare Standards which are adopted by over 18,000 hospitals and health facilities across the country. The standards have also incorporated the ABDM requirements and will thus given an impetus to ABDM adoption. Koita Foundation has supported NABH in the development of these standards over the past 2 years.
Koita Foundation and NABH also signed an MOU to collaborate on Digital Health initiatives. Under the MOU, Koita Foundation will support NABH in the national roll-out of the Digital Health Standards, contribute to NABH’s capacity building & training in Digital Health for healthcare professionals and also support the digital transformation NABH.
August 2023- Koita Foundation partnered with Ashoka University to establish the Koita Centre for Digital Health - Ashoka (KCDH-A), driving academic programs, research, collaboration, and professional development in Digital Health. KCDH-A will offer Digital Health program to UG & PhD students from the academic year 2024.

August 2023- Koita Foundation in collaboration with Navgurukul, Vidya Bhavan Society and Bajaj Finserv has initiated a 15-month journey to empower 100 young girls from 14 districts of Rajasthan with coding skills. May 2023– The National Cancer Grid (NCG) and the Koita Centre for Digital Oncology (KCDO) supports 300+ NCG hospitals in adopting digital tools to enhance cancer care. NCG-KCDO core team along with oncology and healthcare technology experts have developed a comprehensive set of requirements for EMRs to meet the specialized needs of cancer care - NCG EMR requirements (NER). NCG-KCDO believes that NER will provide a critical foundation capability enabling standardization and integration with other solutions addressing the cancer care continuum. April 2023– Koita Foundation is pleased to announce the inauguration of our office at One Lodha Place, Lower Parel, Mumbai. Our new facility will enable us to better serve our Digital Health and NGO partners and support their growth initiatives.
April 2023– Koita Foundation and Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS), Nashik, signed an MOU to develop a Digital Health Foundational Course (DHFC) for medical students and practicing physicians. The MOU was signed in the presence of the Vice Chancellor of MUHS, Lt. General Dr. Madhuri Kanitkar (retired). MUHS has jurisdiction over all 400+ medical colleges across Maharashtra covering over a 100,000 students. MUHS is also responsible for continuing medical education (CME) for all doctors in Maharashtra. The DHFC initiative will enable MUHS and Maharashtra to play a leading role in driving Digital Health capacity building for healthcare professionals in India.
April 2023– Indian Institute of Technology Bombay inaugurated the Koita Centre for Digital Health (KCDH) facility on 17th April 2023. KCDH facility was inaugurated by Vice Chancellor of Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS), Lt. General Dr. Madhuri Kanitkar (retired).
With its mission of revolutionising healthcare in India, KCDH organized a symposium on "Catalysing Digital Health Revolution in India" to bring together thought leaders and researchers in Digital Health from the government, academia, industry and startup community. Dr. Rajesh Gokhale, Secretary Department of Biotechnology, Government of India was the Chief Guest for the event - attended by over 250 professionals across India.
April 2023– NABH releases the draft 1st edition of Digital Health Accreditation Standards. The NABH Digital Health standards will help guide hospitals, healthcare technology companies, and healthcare insurance companies, and enable them to create a consistent digital roadmap across India.
March 2023– NCG will support the empaneled EMR vendors to enhance their products to meet cancer specific requirements. In addition, NCG will promote the empaneled EMR vendors across the 300 NCG affiliated hospitals across India.

March 2023– Koita Foundation supports Accelerating Indian Philanthropy (AIP), a peer network set up by philanthropists to drive philanthropy in India. We were delighted to participate in the round table discussion organized by AIP with Bill Gates (Co-Chair, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation) on his philanthropy vision and learnings.
March 2023– Rizwan Koita spoke at the Dasra Philanthropy Week on "Philanthropy in India: Future of Giving for a Billion Thriving." The session focused on giving behaviors across multiple cohorts – corporate CSR, family foundations and retail givers – and identifying key success factors. Bain & Company also released their India Philanthropy Report 2023.

November 2022- The National Disease Modelling Consortium (NDMC), established in 2022 focuses on developing India-specific disease models. Its goal is to provide comprehensive disease burden estimates and assess the impact of various treatment strategies, including vaccination. Koita Centre for Digital Health is housed at IIT Bombay, renowned for its excellence and recognized as an Institution of Eminence. The Centre was established to further academic and research endeavours in Digital Health and has thus been entrusted with being the nodal body for the disease modelling consortium.
